Meet the Team

Dr. Anne-Marie Horwitz

Dr Anne-Marie has worked at Lockyer Avenue Veterinary Hospital a very long time and is as passionate as ever about being a small animal veterinarian.

She especially enjoys working with old dogs and their owners as she says, ” old dogs are the best dogs” !

Dr Anne-Marie loves living on the South Coast and when not working you may find her cycling, swimming or playing tennis or bridge.

Dr Anne-Marie has no plans to retire, she enjoys seeing old faces and meeting new ones, both the furred and unfurred types!

Dr. Rob Graham

Dr Rob enjoys every day as a veterinarian – meeting and working with devoted animal owners to improve the health of their companions. Growing up in the suburbs of Perth in the 60’s/70’s Dr Rob fell in love with country life, whilst riding horses as a young boy in Waroona.

He has spent all his career living in the country and working in mixed animal practice, and still gets out into the ‘fields’ of the Great Southern and even Yorkshire – each June.

Dr Rob is equally very happy to be working with the very caring team at Lockyer Avenue Veterinary Hospital – tending to the small animals in ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. Dr Rob is inspired by the people he works with and for, as he fully realises the commitment of both the team at Lockyer Avenue Veterinary Hospital and our clients have, in caring for their pets.

Dr. Helen Grandage

Dr Helen graduated from Murdoch University veterinary school in 1990.

Upon graduation she went to the United Kingdom and worked as a vet for 7 years. She then returned to the Murdoch University Veterinary school and worked in the general practice hospital there for 7 years.

Dr Helen received an extra  qualification by successfully sitting the exams of the Australian College of Veterinary scientists in Canine Medicine in 2006.

She then moved down to Albany with her family and commenced part time work at Lockyer Avenue Veterinary Hospital and has been with us ever since.

As well as being a kind , caring and extremely capable veterinarian, Dr Helen juggles being a vet with teaching, performing music and mothering her three lovely children. She is a very busy lady and we are delighted that she manages to include us in her busy life.

Hannah Holmberg, Vet Nurse

Hannah started working at Lockyer Avenue Veterinary Hospital in 2006 as a school student on work experience. We were so happy with her we offered her a job and she completed her veterinary nursing training via correspondence in Perth. She graduated with her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in  2009.

Hannah grew up in New Zealand and her husband Matt, grew up in Perth.  Both individuals moved to Albany with their families  in their teenage years. They love it here and don’t plan to move from the Great Southern.

Hannah has 3 pets – Chilli the Border Collie ( pictured here) and her cats Bailey and Scribble.

Hannah and her husband Matt have a beautiful family and are well supported by both sets of grandparents which enables Hannah to continue vet nursing . We are lucky to have her on our team.

Sarah Smith, Vet Nurse

Since a very young age, Sarah has had a passion for animals.

Growing up she has had many pets, all being different shapes and sizes and all very much loved!

She has loved the opportunity of living out her childhood dream of becoming a veterinary nurse working at Lockyer Avenue Vet Hospital over the past few years.

She is born and bred on the Albany Coastline. If Sarah’s not at work, you can usually find he down at the beach as it is another one other favourite passions including walking, swimming, surfing, snorkeling and camping.

Coral Kneebone, Trainee Vet Nurse

Coral started working at Lockyer Avenue Vet Hospital in 2003 .

Coral moved to Perth for a few years and worked for the Pets and Vets Group up there, but luckily as Albany is the place where her friends and family are Coral is now back on our team and we are so glad. She is a kind and compassionate person who loves helping owners and their pets.

Coral is definitely a ”glass is half full” sort of a person who is always willing and ready to help out in any manner that she can.

When not at work or busy with her family , Coral likes to do most outdoor adventures.
